I will be moving soon to get an academic job. What states/college towns have especially good/bad resources for VI children?

My 2 year old daughter has nystagmus and something as yet undiagnosed (20:360 acuity but good functional vision). We currently live in MA near Perkins and the resources are tremendous. However I will need to move out of state to find a new academic job soon. I am trying to find out what college towns have nearby school districts with good support for VI children. I want to be able to focus my job search on places that will be good for my daughter and avoid those that will have poor resources. Can anyone tell me about the quality of resources in communities near (1) Duke University, (2) Washington University St Louis, (3) Dartmouth, (4) University of Maryland, College Park, (5) University of Michigan, (6) University of Rochester, (7) Cornell University, (8) UT Austin, or (9) other college towns? I know from the founder of wonderbaby that I should not go to Hawaii but am otherwise ill informed.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,
Michael

From our Facebook page:

"Utah is a good place with lots of college towns, the colleges are University of Utah, BYU, Utah State, Dixie State, Utah Valley University... I may have forgotten some, but look into it if you'd like."

"The Ohio State University & The Ohio State School for the Blind are fairly close together. Also, the Cleveland area had many colleges including Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, Notre Dame College, and Ursuline College and the Cleveland Sight Center is centrally located near them."

"Indianapolis has a school got the blind and several universities."

"I can vouch for Cleveland too - Cleveland Sight Center is a wonderful place!"

As is The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute (literally across the street from Cleveland Sight)."

"We live in the SF Bay Area. We have had wonderful experiences at Stanford. There is also a school for the blind near by. We also have been to the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah & there were also tons of resources available there."

"Western michigan university is another great resource. The Michigan commission for the blind is in the same city and WMU has had many successful students graduate with varying visual impairments."

Maryland and Washington, D.C. are great places to look. There are many universities and the the vision services that Maryland State has been able to provide are really great. I live in Frederick County and we receive vision teaching from the Maryland School for the Blind as well as therapy through the Frederick County Public School along with Frederick County Infants and Toddlers.

We live in Arlington, VA and the resources here have been phenomenal.
