Need help with sleep

My daughter has ONH. She's 9 months old and totally blind. She was on melatonin for 3 weeks and we have stopped giving it to her as she was waking through the night screaming as if she was having nightmares and was inconsolable!

Now she still wake up but just gurgles and chats to herself. How can we help her sleep?

The best advice I can give you is to read Dr Ferber's book, Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems.

Dr Ferber explains how sleep works and why some kids may wake up in the middle of the night. He goes through a bunch of scenerios and walks you through solutions. It's a good book and very, very informative.

You might also want to see if you can take your daughter to a sleep specialist. They can work wonders!

Your daughter sounds safe, happy and well cared for. Perhaps, for the moment, you could take a different perspective on her wakefulness during the night? She sounds happy 'gurgling and verbalising'. She is in a safe environment. She has soft, cuddly, low stimulation toys around her,I imagine. She may not have adopted fully the circadian rhythm yet but she sounds as though she's on a happy road to getting there.
