I'm trying to find an Ophthalmologist in Ontario Canada who deals with microphthalmia.
Hi,
I'm trying to find an Ophthalmologist in Ontario Canada who deals with microphthalmia.
My daughter, Elizabeth, is 8 years old and has unilateral microphthalmia in her right eye, her right eye also has a cataract and we where told when she was a baby to leave the caterac alone, there is no vision so there is no reason to remove.
Elizabeth has worn a scherol lens since about 6 months old, but her lower lid seems to be curling inward, I think the lens isn't big enough on the lower lid to push it out. We've brought this up to the ocularist and he said its an issue we will deal with later on?? The micro eye hasn't been examined in 6/7 years because we haven't found an ocularist that specializes in microphthalmia. The ocularist deals with the lens and the ocularist examines her "good" eye.
Thank you

This site lists Ocularists in Canada: http://www.ocularist.org/find_ocularist_search_country.asp?&tab=1
You may be able to call them and see if they recommend any Ophthalmologists in your area.
The moms in the MAPS group on Facebook have recommended the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, which isn't in Ontario but may be an option for you (depending on where you live). One mom suggested seeing Dr Gregory Dootz: http://www.kellogg.umich.edu/bios/dootz.html
