Get Answers to Your Questions About Transitions!
As the parent of a child with a visual impairment you've probably heard the word "transition" too many times to count. I remember when Ivan was a baby and his early intervention team started discussing his transition to preschool... when he was still only 1 year old!
Sure, the transition was still two years away, but we needed to begin preparing now!
Transitions can be daunting for any child, but for blind babies and children the process can be much more difficult and take much more planning on our part.
Which usually means that we have many, many questions about making this a smooth process for our kids. And that's where other parents can really help guide the way.
On November 12th, 2012, Perkins School for the Blind will host a parent panel on transitions at their Watertown campus. We'll have a group of experienced parents giving advice on transitions and answering all of your questions!
If you are in the area, please RSVP to Kate Dietz at kate.dietz@perkins.org and let her know that you'd like to attend! You can check out the event page for more details.
But for all of you who won't be able to attend in person, don't worry! We're going to film the event and post it online so everyone can learn from our group of parents.
Would you like to have your questions answered by our panel?
Please post your questions below in the comments section and we'll be sure to ask our panel for their advice. No question is too big or too small. Let us know what you're thinking!
