Montreal Children's Hospital in Montreal is moving on to a phase 1b trial for their QLT091001 medication. This medication (a pill) is intended to halt the progressive retinal damage and (hopefully) repair damaged retinal cells in patients with LCA caused by RPE65 or LRAT.
The first phase of the study looked specifically at safety in adults, while this study will be with children ages 5 to 14 years and will be looking at both safety and efficacy.
