Who's big, soft, has tactile ears and paws, and is eager to introduce your child to braille? It's Perkins Panda, of course!
The Perkins Panda Early Literacy Program is a wonderful compilation of materials designed to help you teach your child braille through a set of fun toys and stories. Each book, written by famous storyteller and songwriter Odds Bodkin, is illustrated with high-contrast pictures and includes both large print and uncontracted braille so the entire family can enjoy story time together.
The full kit also includes audio cassettes that feature stories and songs written and performed by Odds Bodkin himself. These cassettes are based on the books, but are not direct readings of the books. These tapes are also Ivan's favorite part of the kit!
Ivan also loves to play with the story box that contains items mentioned in the second book, but my favorite part of the kit are definitely the three activity guides, which give you tips on how to introduce the books to your child and how to take learning one step further into every day life. I love practical advice that makes learning fun!

I would love to have this kit to use in my classroom of visually impaired students. I am a Visually Impaired Special Education teacher at the Helen Keller School located in Talladega, Alabama. I love to go online and search for materials I can use to help educate my students. Panda sounds like a wonderful and welcome member of our Helen Keller School family. I seriously hope and pray my entry will pay off;not only for the students I have this year, but the students I'll also teach in the future.
I would love to have this kit to use in my visually impaired classroom at the Helen Keller School located in Talladega, Alabama. We are part of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. Panda sounds like a wonderful new member to add to our family.

oh my GOSH!! I just found your blog by searching for toys for blind children. My son Dallas is 11 years old and blind in both eyes ( ROP) , has cp and autism. I am sitting here with my mouth wide open! I'd love to win this and what a blessing it would be. It has been so hard for us to pick out gifts for Dallas bc of his many handicaps combinded but this would be 100% PERFECT!! Dallas is just now learning to feel and touch braille and my husband and I are learning to read it along with him. Oh how this would be a christmas blessing for our son!!
