The international designer Tommy Hilfiger recognizes that everyone has different abilities, even when it comes to getting dressed. And Hilfiger knows this first hand as both his teenage daughter and teen stepson have autism.
"Because every kid deserves a great pair of jeans," Tommy Hilfiger, in collaboration with nonprofit Runway of Dreams™, has launched a new collection of adaptive clothing for differently-abled kids. The debut release includes 22 pieces for girls and boys sizes 4 and up including dresses, polos, tees and pants. Every item is a piece from the official TH Kids Collection that has been adapted with modified closures, adjustable waistbands and pant legs, and alternate options for easy on and off such as back openings with magnetic closures.
Specific items include faux buttons and MagnaReady® magnet closures on many pieces including TH Polo shirts, tees and dresses with front and back openings for easy on and off, long sleeve shirts with faux button up fronts and cuff plackets, jeans with adjustable leg openings to make room for leg braces, and Cargo shorts with magnet and Velcro closures where the zipper is located. The clothing is designed to ease transitions of getting dressed and medical needs.
Not only do the clothes look like the regular TH Kids Collection, but they are also the same price! Parents will not have to pay extra for the modified clothing from Tommy Hilfiger like so many other products for kids with different needs.
The Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive Clothing Kids Collection is now available online for purchase, and if you're in the NYC area, you can also find pieces at Tommy Hilfiger's 5th Avenue location. WonderBaby hopes more retailers of the TH Brand will begin selling the collection in their stores across the country soon!
