The UK Council for Disabled Children offers a development journal on babies and young children with visual impairments. This journal is intended for parents and professionals, including educators and therapists, who work with young children. It is a wonderful and thorough tool to help families track and understand development of their child and it supports partnership working – in particular, the sharing of information between families and the professionals they meet.

The journal is made up of 5 parts including an introduction, the development journal, an overview including materials and strategies, ideas for when your child is “stuck” in an area, and activity cards- which are phenomenal! The entire PDF download, including the Early Support Booklet is over 400 pages long, but don’t let that overwhelm you. It’s all very beneficial information that can easily be searched so that you can pull out the information you need.
