Learning braille letters is just like learning print letters—kids need to have constant exposure to braille and if you can make it fun, even better!
Can you remember playing with alphabet puzzles when you were a kid? Wouldn’t it be great to have a puzzle just like that with braille letters for your child? This Braille Pieces Talking Alphabet Puzzle is exactly that… but with the fun added feature that it talks when you pick up each letter!
And what about flashcards? These print/braille alphabet flashcards produced by CAL and sold by National Braille Press are simple to use and include each letter in raised print and braille along with a raised line drawing. Kids can learn both braille and print letters with this set of 26 white plastic 7″ x 7″ cards (fastened by a removable ring).
In the upper left corner of each card is the alphabet letter represented in braille. At the center of each card is a raised tactile illustration of an item that begins with that letter of the alphabet (“A” is illustrated with an apple, of course). The lower right corner shows the represented letter in a raised, uppercase print format. Finally, the illustration is labeled in braille (uncontracted).
