The American Council of Blind Students (ACBS) is the student affiliate of the American Council of the Blind, the nation’s leading consumer and advocacy organization of people who are blind or visually impaired. A group of students founded ACBS in 1974 to acquire a greater voice in the workings of this organization. ACBS works to advance the equal opportunity and excellence in education for all blind and visually impaired high school, college and university students in the United States. In so doing, we encourage leadership in our own communities, network students to discuss issues of concern, and act to promote equal access where it is lacking.
